Lipase member I, hydrolyzes specifically phosphatidic acid (PA) to produce 2-acyl lysophosphatidic acid (LPA; a potent bioactive lipid mediator) and fatty acid. Does not hydrolyze other phospholipids, like phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) or triacylglycerol (TG).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a phospholipase that hydrolyzes phosphatidic acid to produce lysophosphatidic acid. The encoded protein, which can be inhibited by sodium vanadate, may be found exclusively in sperm. Defects in this gene are a cause of susceptibility to familial hypertrigliceridemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Uniprot Description

LIPI: Hydrolyzes specifically phosphatidic acid (PA) to produce 2-acyl lysophosphatidic acid (LPA; a potent bioactive lipid mediator) and fatty acid. Does not hydrolyze other phospholipids, like phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) or triacylglycerol (TG). Defects in LIPI may be a cause of susceptibility to familial hypertriglyceridemia (FHTR)[MIM:145750]. Familial hypertriglyceridemia is a common inherited disorder in which the concentration of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) is elevated in the plasma. This leads to increased risk of heart disease, obesity, and pancreatitis. Belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily. Lipase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Phospholipase; Secreted; EC 3.1.1.-; Cancer Testis Antigen (CTA)

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 21q11.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; plasma membrane; extracellular region

Molecular Function: heparin binding; phospholipase activity

Biological Process: lipid catabolic process

Disease: Hypertriglyceridemia, Familial

Product Notes

The GPR152 lipi (Catalog #AAA3014842) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GPR152 polyclonal antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GPR152 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500~1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GPR152 lipi for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GPR152, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
