Related Product Information for anti-GMEB1 antibody
Glucocorticoid modulatory element binding protein (GMEB)1 and 2 are closely related proteins that modify the glucocorticoid receptor binding locus and thus modulate glucocorticoid-mediated gene induction effects, including apoptosis. GMEB1 associates with caspases and prevents apoptosis of cells in the nervous system. Manipulating GMEB may be used therapeutically to enhance the resistance or the sensitivity to steroids. GMEB1 effectively attenuated caspase activation and apoptosis caused by these stresses in human neuroblastoma SK-N-MC cells, indicating that it functions as a potent inhibitor of caspase activation and apoptosis in response to oxidative stress. That GMEB1 blocks pro-apoptosis signals induced by a variety of stresses.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of KDWK gene family which associates with GMEB2 protein. The GMEB1-GMEB2 complex is essential for parvovirus DNA replication. Studies in rat for a similar gene suggest that this gene's role is to modulate the transactivation of the glucocorticoid receptor when it is bound to glucocorticoid response elements. Two alternative spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Uniprot Description

GMEB1: Trans-acting factor that binds to glucocorticoid modulatory elements (GME) present in the TAT (tyrosine aminotransferase) promoter and increases sensitivity to low concentrations of glucocorticoids. Binds also to the transferrin receptor promoter. Essential auxiliary factor for the replication of parvoviruses. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The GMEB1 gmeb1 (Catalog #AAA8103943) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-GMEB1 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GMEB1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). IHC-P: 1:500-1:2000 ICC/IF: 1:300-1:10,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GMEB1 gmeb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GMEB1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
