Uniprot Description

GLRB: The glycine receptor is a neurotransmitter-gated ion channel. Binding of glycine to its receptor increases the chloride conductance and thus produces hyperpolarization (inhibition of neuronal firing). Defects in GLRB are the cause of hyperekplexia type 2 (HKPX2). HKPX2 is a neurologic disorder characterized by muscular rigidity of central nervous system origin, particularly in the neonatal period, and by an exaggerated startle response to unexpected acoustic or tactile2 stimuli. Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. Glycine receptor (TC 1.A.9.3) subfamily. GLRB sub- subfamily.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Transporter; Channel, ligand-gated; Transporter, ion channel; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Cellular Component: postsynaptic membrane; membrane; cell; endoplasmic reticulum; integral to membrane; plasma membrane; synapse; cell junction; external side of plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; chloride channel activity; extracellular-glycine-gated chloride channel activity; glycine binding; extracellular-glycine-gated ion channel activity; drug binding; extracellular ligand-gated ion channel activity

Biological Process: nervous system development; startle response; synaptic transmission, glycinergic; righting reflex; protein heterooligomerization; neuromuscular process; acrosome reaction; chloride transport; adult walking behavior; synaptic transmission; regulation of membrane potential; visual perception; neuropeptide signaling pathway; transport; ion transport

Product Notes

The Glrb glrb (Catalog #AAA625343) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase, NT (GPT, Glutamic-pyruvic Transaminase 1, Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase 1, GPT 1, GPT1, Alanine Aminotransferase 1, AAT1, ALT1, Glutamic-alanine Transaminase 1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Glrb glrb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
