NCBI Description

This gene catalyzes the hydrolysis of folylpoly-gamma-glutamates and antifolylpoly-gamma-glutamates by the removal of gamma-linked polyglutamates and glutamate. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

GGH: Hydrolyzes the polyglutamate sidechains of pteroylpolyglutamates. Progressively removes gamma-glutamyl residues from pteroylpoly-gamma-glutamate to yield pteroyl-alpha- glutamate (folic acid) and free glutamate. May play an important role in the bioavailability of dietary pteroylpolyglutamates and in the metabolism of pteroylpolyglutamates and antifolates. Belongs to the peptidase C26 family.

Protein type: Secreted; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - folate biosynthesis; EC 3.4.19.9; Secreted, signal peptide; Protease

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q12.3

Cellular Component: extracellular space; lysosome; melanosome; cytosol; nucleus

Molecular Function: omega peptidase activity; exopeptidase activity

Biological Process: response to drug; response to ethanol; response to zinc ion; glutamine metabolic process; proteolysis; response to insulin stimulus

Product Notes

The GGH ggh (Catalog #AAA6302083) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GGH, CT (GGH, Gamma-glutamyl hydrolase, Conjugase, GH, Gamma-Glu-X carboxypeptidase) (AP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GGH can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunofluorescence (IF), ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). IF: 1:10-50 ELISA: 1:1,000 IHC: 1:10-50 WB: 1:100-500 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GGH ggh for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GGH, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
