Applicable Applications for anti-SLC6A1 antibody
Peptide ELISA (EIA)
Application Notes
Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 4000.
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave bands at approx 50kDa and 37kDa in Human Brain (Cerebellum) lysates after 2ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the bands we observe given the calculated size of 67.1kDa according to NP_003033.3. Both detected bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide (and BLAST results with the immunizing peptide sequence did not identify any other proteins to explain the additional bands).
Immunogen
Peptide with sequence C-EQPQAGSSTSKE, from the C Terminus of the protein sequence according to NP_003033.3.
Epitope
C Terminus
Preparation and Storage
Aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Minimize freezing and thawing.

NCBI Description

The SLC6A1 gene encodes a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) transporter, which removes GABA from the synaptic cleft (Hirunsatit et al., 2009 [PubMed 19077666]).[supplied by OMIM, Jul 2009]

Uniprot Description

SLC6A1: Terminates the action of GABA by its high affinity sodium-dependent reuptake into presynaptic terminals. Belongs to the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter (SNF) (TC 2.A.22) family. SLC6A1 subfamily.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral; Transporter, SLC family; Transporter

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p25.3

Cellular Component: axon; cell surface; integral to membrane; integral to plasma membrane; membrane; neuron projection; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: gamma-aminobutyric acid:sodium symporter activity; metal ion binding; neurotransmitter:sodium symporter activity

Biological Process: gamma-aminobutyric acid import; gamma-aminobutyric acid transport; learning; negative regulation of synaptic transmission, GABAergic; neurotransmitter transport; positive regulation of gamma-aminobutyric acid secretion; protein homooligomerization; response to calcium ion; response to cocaine; response to estradiol stimulus; response to lead ion; response to purine; response to sucrose stimulus; response to toxin; synaptic transmission; transmembrane transport; transport

Product Notes

The SLC6A1 slc6a1 (Catalog #AAA423006) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-GAT1/SLC6A1 Antibody reacts with Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Rat, Dog and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GAT1/SLC6A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC6A1 slc6a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: EQPQAGSSTS KE. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GAT1/SLC6A1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
