Related Product Information for anti-LGALS9 antibody
The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. LGALS9 is an S-type lectin. This galectin is strongly overexpressed in Hodgkin's disease tissue and it might participate in the interaction between the H&RS cells with their surrounding cells and might thus play a role in the pathogenesis of this disease and/or its consistently associated immunodeficiency. The protein has N- and C- terminal carbohydrate-binding domains connected by a link peptide. Two isoforms (long and short) exist.

NCBI Description

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The protein encoded by this gene is an S-type lectin. It is overexpressed in Hodgkin's disease tissue and might participate in the interaction between the H&RS cells with their surrounding cells and might thus play a role in the pathogenesis of this disease and/or its associated immunodeficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

galectin-9: Binds galactosides. Has high affinity for the Forssman pentasaccharide. May play a role in thymocyte-epithelial interactions relevant to the biology of the thymus. Inhibits cell proliferation. It is a ligand for HAVCR2/TIM3. Induces T-helper type 1 lymphocyte (Th1) death. Isoform Short acts as an eosinophil chemoattractant. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Unknown function

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q11.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: signal transducer activity; galactose binding; carbohydrate binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade; signal transduction

Product Notes

The LGALS9 lgals9 (Catalog #AAA6009120) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Galectin-9, ID (LGALS9, Gal-9, Ecalectin, Tumor Antigen HOM-HD-21) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Galectin-9 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: ELISA: 1:1000 Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Immunofluorescence: 1:100-1:500 Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 10ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LGALS9 lgals9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Galectin-9, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
