Related Product Information for anti-LGALS1 antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Galectin 1 detection. Tested with ELISA(Det) in Mouse.

Background: Galectin-1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LGALS1 gene. The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Galectin-1 may act as an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation. Galectin-1 expression in Hodgkin Lymphoma has also been shown to mediate immunosuppression of CD8+ T-cells. It is thought to play a role in creating immune tolerance in pregnancy. It has been found that Galectin-1-mediated production of IL6 may assist in augmenting the innate immune response against NiV. Galectin-1 may also be a significant factor that augments the efficiency of the HIV-1 infection process.

Uniprot Description

Galectin-1: May regulate apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates. Inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. Homodimer. Binds LGALS3BP. Interacts with CD2, CD3, CD4, CD7, CD43 and CD45. Interacts with laminin (via poly-N- acetyllactosamine). Expressed in placenta, maternal decidua and fetal membranes. Within placenta, expressed in trophoblasts, stromal cells, villous endothelium, syncytiotrophoblast apical membrane and villous stroma. Within fetal membranes, expressed in amnion, chorioamniotic mesenchyma and chorion. Expressed in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney and hematopoietic cells.

Product Notes

The LGALS1 lgals1 (Catalog #AAA1752435) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Galectin 1 Biotinylated Antibody reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Galectin 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA Detection (EIA). ELISA (Det): 0.1-0.5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LGALS1 lgals1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Galectin 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
