Related Product Information for anti-FZD5 antibody
Frizzled-5 (FZD5) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FZD5 gene, this gene encodes a polypeptide of 585 amino acids. [1] It is a member of of the 'frizzled' gene family, which encode 7-transmembrane domain proteins. He et al. (1997) showed that human frizzled 5 is the receptor for the Wnt5A ligand. [2]

NCBI Description

Members of the 'frizzled' gene family encode 7-transmembrane domain proteins that are receptors for Wnt signaling proteins. The FZD5 protein is believed to be the receptor for the Wnt5A ligand. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Receptor for Wnt proteins. Most of frizzled receptors are coupled to the beta-catenin canonical signaling pathway, which leads to the activation of disheveled proteins, inhibition of GSK-3 kinase, nuclear accumulation of beta-catenin and activation of Wnt target genes. A second signaling pathway involving PKC and calcium fluxes has been seen for some family members, but it is not yet clear if it represents a distinct pathway or if it can be integrated in the canonical pathway, as PKC seems to be required for Wnt-mediated inactivation of GSK-3 kinase. Both pathways seem to involve interactions with G-proteins. May be involved in transduction and intercellular transmission of polarity information during tissue morphogenesis and/or in differentiated tissues. Interacts specifically with Wnt5A to induce the beta-catenin pathway. Ref.6

Subunit structure: Interacts with GOPC

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein

Domain: The PDZ-binding motif mediates interaction with GOPC

By similarity.Lys-Thr-X-X-X-Trp motif interacts with the PDZ doman of Dvl (Disheveled) family members and is involved in the activation of the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway

By similarity. The FZ domain is involved in binding with Wnt ligands

Post-translational modification: Ubiquitinated by RNF43 and ZNRF3, leading to its degradation by the proteasome. Ref.7 Ref.8

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor Fz/Smo family.Contains 1 FZ (frizzled) domain.

Product Notes

The FZD5 fzd5 (Catalog #AAA355190) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Frizzled 5 antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Frizzled 5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). WB (1:500-1000); ICC (1:100-200). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FZD5 fzd5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Frizzled 5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
