Background: Fractalkine, also known as neurotactin, is a membrane-bound CX3C Chemokine. The mature protein is part of a 397-amino acid precursor and consists of a chemokine domain of 76 amino acids, a mucin stalk of 241 amino acids, a putative transmembrane domain of 18 amino acids, and an intracellular tail of 37 amino acids. Within the chemokine domain, the first two cysteine residues are separated by 3 amino acids (CX3C). Fractalkine message is found in high abundance in the brain, kidney, lung and heart tissues. Fractalkine is chemotactic for monocytes and other leukocytes including NK cells and may play a role in brain inflammation.

Uniprot Description

CX3CL1: The soluble form is chemotactic for T-cells and monocytes, but not for neutrophils. The membrane-bound form promotes adhesion of those leukocytes to endothelial cells. May play a role in regulating leukocyte adhesion and migration processes at the endothelium. Binds to CX3CR1. Belongs to the intercrine delta family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16q13

Product Notes

The CX3CL1 cx3cl1 (Catalog #AAA840223) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Fractalkine Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Fractalkine can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunoprecipitation (IP). Western blot analysis (0.5-4 ug/ml). Per researcher's feedback, it can also be used in immunoprecipitation (4-8 ug/ml), and Immunohistochemistry (10-20 ug/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CX3CL1 cx3cl1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fractalkine, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
