Rabbit anti FOXO3A (pSer253) antibody recognizes FOXO3A, when phosphorylated at serine 253. FOXO3A is a member of the forkhead family of transcription factors. Residue 253 of FOXO3A is phosphorylated by a number of kinases including AKT. Phosphorylation of FOXO3A at serine 253 results in decreased transcriptional activity and export of FOXO3A from the nucleus.

This gene belongs to the forkhead family of transcription factors which are characterized by a distinct forkhead domain. This gene likely functions as a trigger for apoptosis through expression of genes necessary for cell death. Translocation of this gene with the MLL gene is associated with secondary acute leukemia.
