NCBI Description

This gene encodes a receptor that binds the Fc region of monomeric immunoglobulin G. The encoded protein transfers immunoglobulin G antibodies from mother to fetus across the placenta. This protein also binds immunoglobulin G to protect the antibody from degradation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2009]

Uniprot Description

Binds to the Fc region of monomeric immunoglobulins gamma (PubMed:7964511, PubMed:10933786). Mediates the selective uptake of IgG from milk and helps newborn animals to acquire passive immunity. IgG in the milk is bound at the apical surface of the intestinal epithelium. The resultant FcRn-IgG complexes are transcytosed across the intestinal epithelium and IgG is released from FcRn into blood or tissue fluids (). Possible role in transfer of immunoglobulin G from mother to fetus (PubMed:7964511).

Product Notes

The FcRn fcgrt (Catalog #AAA8292628) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-FcRn Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's FcRn can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1/500 - 1/2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FcRn fcgrt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FcRn, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
