Rabbit FAP ALPHA Polyclonal Antibody | anti-FAP antibody

RABBIT ANTI HUMAN FAP ALPHA

Gene Names
FAP; FAPA; SIMP; DPPIV
Applications
Immunohistochemistry
Synonyms
FAP ALPHA; Polyclonal Antibody; RABBIT ANTI HUMAN FAP ALPHA; anti-FAP antibody
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Rabbit
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item detects fibroblast activation protein alpha (FAP alpha), a type II membrane protein belonging to the serine protease family. FAP alpha is upregulated on activated fibroblasts in response to wounding, and may also be involved in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during development and tissue repair.

Active FAP alpha is a 170kD homodimeric protein which can also exist as a soluble form. FAP alpha can also form heterodimeric complexes with CD26 (DPP4), and these proteins may function co-ordinately to modulate the growth, differentiation, adhesion and metastasis of tumour cells.
Form/Format
Purified
Purified IgG - liquid
Concentration
IgG concentration 0.5 mg/ml (varies by lot)
Sequence Length
735
Applicable Applications for anti-FAP antibody
Immunohistology Paraffin*
Application Notes
Immunohistology - Paraffin: Maximum Dilution: 10 ug/ml; Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose.
Perservative Stabilisers
0.09% Sodium Azide (NaN3)
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide: extracellular domain of human FAP alpha, conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin.
Histology Positive Control Tissue
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to FAP alpha were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a homodimeric integral membrane gelatinase belonging to the serine protease family. It is selectively expressed in reactive stromal fibroblasts of epithelial cancers, granulation tissue of healing wounds, and malignant cells of bone and soft tissue sarcomas. This protein is thought to be involved in the control of fibroblast growth or epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during development, tissue repair, and epithelial carcinogenesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]

Uniprot Description

FAP: In association with DPP4 is involved in the pericellular proteolysis of the extracellular matrix (ECM), the migration and invasion of endothelial cells into the ECM. May have a role in tissue remodeling during development and wound healing, and may contribute to invasiveness in malignant cancers. Belongs to the peptidase S9B family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.4.21.26; EC 3.4.14.5; Protease; Membrane protein, integral

Product Notes

The FAP fap (Catalog #AAA222803) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's FAP ALPHA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Paraffin*. Immunohistology - Paraffin: Maximum Dilution: 10 ug/ml; Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FAP fap for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FAP ALPHA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
