Related Product Information for anti-MECOM antibody
MECOM gene, also known as EVI, encodes a transcriptional regulator involved in hematopoiesis, apoptosis, development and proliferation. In blood system, MECOM is considered an oncogene, but in solid tumors it has both oncogenic and tumor suppressor activities. The MECOM gene encoding a zinc finger protein that functions as a transcription factor, was located on chromosome 3q26, and rearrangements of MECOM often cause its overexpression in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). MECOM encodes a transcription factor that plays an essential role in cell proliferation and maintenance and also in epigenetic regulation.MECOM oncogene expression correlates with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) progression.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a transcriptional regulator and oncoprotein that may be involved in hematopoiesis, apoptosis, development, and cell differentiation and proliferation. The encoded protein can interact with CTBP1, SMAD3, CREBBP, KAT2B, MAPK8, and MAPK9. This gene can undergo translocation with the AML1 gene, resulting in overexpression of this gene and the onset of leukemia. Several transcript variants encoding a few different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

Uniprot Description

MDS1: A chromosomal aberration involving MDS1 is found in a form of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Translocation t(3;21) with AML1. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative promoter.

Product Notes

The MECOM mecom (Catalog #AAA8100835) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-EVI1/MECOM Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's EVI1/MECOM can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). WB: 1:500-1:2000 ICC/IF: 1:300-1:10,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MECOM mecom for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EVI1/MECOM, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
