Related Product Information for anti-ERBB3 antibody
ErbB3 (also known as HER3) is a type I transmembrane growth factor receptor and member of the human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER) family. ErbB3 is unique among HER family members in that it contains a defective kinase domain, and is therefore active only as a partner in a heterodimer complex with other ErbBs. Despite ErbB3's lack of intrinsic kinase activity, these heterodimers can be quite potent: the ErbB2/ErbB3 complex is considered the most active ErbB signaling dimer for the activation of downstream pathways. In addition, monomeric ErbB3 serves as a low affinity receptor for the heregulins (HRG), while ErbB2/ErbB3 heterodimers form a high affinity receptor complex. Phosphorylation of ErbB3 at Y1262 following ligand binding generates a binding site for the Grb2 adaptor protein.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family of receptor tyrosine kinases. This membrane-bound protein has a neuregulin binding domain but not an active kinase domain. It therefore can bind this ligand but not convey the signal into the cell through protein phosphorylation. However, it does form heterodimers with other EGF receptor family members which do have kinase activity. Heterodimerization leads to the activation of pathways which lead to cell proliferation or differentiation. Amplification of this gene and/or overexpression of its protein have been reported in numerous cancers, including prostate, bladder, and breast tumors. Alternate transcriptional splice variants encoding different isoforms have been characterized. One isoform lacks the intermembrane region and is secreted outside the cell. This form acts to modulate the activity of the membrane-bound form. Additional splice variants have also been reported, but they have not been thoroughly characterized. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

HER3: a receptor tyrosine kinase of the EGFR family. Binds and is activated by neuregulins and NTAK. Can form homodimers or ErbB-2/ErbB-3 heterodimers. Kinase domain lacks activity but heterodimerizes with other EGFRs to transduce growth signals. May be required for HER2 activity. Elevated expression in breast and other tumors is indicative of poor outcome. A secreted form is expressed in metastatic prostate cancer Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The ERBB3 erbb3 (Catalog #AAA625050) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ErbB3, Phosphorylated (Y1262) (ERBB3, v-erb-b2 Erythroblastic Leukemia Viral Oncogene Homolog 3 avian, HGNC:3431, ErbB-3, HER3, MDA-BF-1, c-erbB-3, c-erbB3, erbB3-S, p180-ErbB3, p45-sErbB3) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ErbB3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 0.1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ERBB3 erbb3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ErbB3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
