Related Product Information for anti-Scnn1a antibody
Tissue acidosis (decrease in pH below the physiological level) that occurs in ischemia, tissue damage or inflammation is accompanied by pain. At the molecular level, H+-gated cation channels are activated by low pH in nociceptive neurons. H+-gated cation channels, members of the NaC/DEG superfamily of Na channels that include amiloride-sensitive epithelial Na+ channel proteins (alpha, beta, gamma and delta-ENAC subunits), are expressed in epithelia of the vertebrate kidney, colon, lung, tongue and brain. The ENAC subunits may form heterotrimeric active Na channel. ENACs are involved in Na and water readsorption, and salty taste transduction) of vertebrate colon, lung, kidney and tongue. The superfamily of DEG/NAC proteins are characterized by intracellular N and C-termini, two TM domains, and a large extracellular loop.

NCBI Description

acts as an epithelial sodium ion channel; regulates salt and fluid transport in the kidney [RGD]

Uniprot Description

ENaC-alpha: Sodium permeable non-voltage-sensitive ion channel inhibited by the diuretic amiloride. Mediates the electrodiffusion of the luminal sodium (and water, which follows osmotically) through the apical membrane of epithelial cells. Controls the reabsorption of sodium in kidney, colon, lung and sweat glands. Also plays a role in taste perception. Probable heterotrimer containing one alpha, one beta and one gamma subunit. A delta subunit can replace the alpha subunit. Interacts with the WW domains of NEDD4, NEDD4L, WWP1 and WWP2. By aldosterone. Highly expressed in kidney and lung. Detected at intermediate levels in pancreas and liver, and at low levels in heart and placenta. Isoform 1 and isoform 2 predominate in all tissues. Expression of isoform 3, isoform 4 and isoform 5 is very low or not detectable, except in lung and heart. Activated by WNK1, WNK2, WNK3 and WNK4. Belongs to the amiloride-sensitive sodium channel (TC 1.A.6) family. SCNN1A subfamily. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral; Transporter, ion channel; Channel, sodium

Cellular Component: cortical actin cytoskeleton; membrane; integral to plasma membrane; apical plasma membrane; integral to membrane; cytosol; external side of plasma membrane

Molecular Function: amiloride-sensitive sodium channel activity; WW domain binding; actin binding; sodium channel activity

Biological Process: regulation of body fluid levels; sensory perception of taste; regulation of blood pressure; sodium ion transport; sodium ion homeostasis; multicellular organismal water homeostasis

Product Notes

The Scnn1a scnn1a (Catalog #AAA616250) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Epithelial Sodium Channel, alpha (ENAC Alpha) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Epithelial Sodium Channel, alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 ELISA: 1:10,000-1:50,000. Control peptide can be used to coat ELISA plates at 1ug/ml and detected with antibodies. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Scnn1a scnn1a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epithelial Sodium Channel, alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
