NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a dual specificity protein kinase that belongs to the MAP kinase kinase family. This kinase specifically interacts with and activates MAPK7/ERK5. This kinase itself can be phosphorylated and activated by MAP3K3/MEKK3, as well as by atypical protein kinase C isoforms (aPKCs). The signal cascade mediated by this kinase is involved in growth factor stimulated cell proliferation and muscle cell differentiation. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]
Uniprot Description
MEK5: a dual specificity protein kinase of the STE7 family. Activates ERK5 and is itself phosphorylated and activated by MEKK3, as well as by atypical protein kinase C isoforms. Involved in growth factor stimulated cell proliferation and muscle cell differentiation. Four alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes
The MAP2K5 map2k5 (Catalog #AAA1493796) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti-human Dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 5 polyclonal Antibody(MAP2K5) reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Recommended dilution: WB:1:500-5000 IHC:1:20-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAP2K5 map2k5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
