NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the Jumonji, AT-rich interactive domain 1 (JARID1) histone demethylase protein family. The encoded protein plays a role in gene regulation through the histone code by specifically demethylating lysine 4 of histone H3. The encoded protein interacts with many other proteins, including retinoblastoma protein, and is implicated in the transcriptional regulation of Hox genes and cytokines. This gene may play a role in tumor progression. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]
Uniprot Description
JARID1A: Histone demethylase that specifically demethylates 'Lys- 4' of histone H3, thereby playing a central role in histone code. Does not demethylate histone H3 'Lys-9', H3 'Lys-27', H3 'Lys-36', H3 'Lys-79' or H4 'Lys-20'. Demethylates trimethylated and dimethylated but not monomethylated H3 'Lys-4'. May stimulate transcription mediated by nuclear receptors. May be involved in transcriptional regulation of Hox proteins during cell differentiation. May participate in transcriptional repression of cytokines such as CXCL12. Interacts with SUZ12; the interaction is direct. Interacts with the viral protein-binding domain of RB1. Interacts with ESR1, MYC, MYCN and LMO2. Belongs to the JARID1 histone demethylase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The KDM5A kdm5a (Catalog #AAA9126236) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Lysine-specific demethylase 5A reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's demethylase 5A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KDM5A kdm5a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "demethylase 5A, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
