NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
Function: Component of the N-oligosaccharyl transferase enzyme which catalyzes the transfer of a high mannose oligosaccharide from a lipid-linked oligosaccharide donor to an asparagine residue within an Asn-X-Ser/Thr consensus motif in nascent polypeptide chains. N-glycosylation occurs cotranslationally and the complex associates with the Sec61 complex at the channel-forming translocon complex that mediates protein translocation across the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Loss of the DAD1 protein triggers apoptosis
Catalytic activity: Dolichyl diphosphooligosaccharide + protein L-asparagine = dolichyl diphosphate + a glycoprotein with the oligosaccharide chain attached by N-glycosyl linkage to protein L-asparagine.
Subunit structure: Component of the oligosaccharyltransferase (OST) complex. OST seems to exist in different forms which contain at least RPN1, RPN2, OST48, DAD1, OSTC, KRTCAP2 and either STT3A or STT3B. OST can form stable complexes with the Sec61 complex or with both the Sec61 and TRAP complexes
Subcellular location: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein
Potential.
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the DAD/OST2 family.

Product Notes
The DAD1 dad1 (Catalog #AAA618933) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Defender of Apoptotic Cell Death 1 (DAD1) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Defender of Apoptotic Cell Death 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5-2.0 ug/ml, detects a band of approximately 22kD in HepG2 cell lysates. Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DAD1 dad1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Defender of Apoptotic Cell Death 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
