Background: Decorin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the DCN gene. This gene is mapped to 12q21.3. It belongs to the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family and consists of a protein core containing leucine repeats with a glycosaminoglycan (GAG) chain consisting of either chondroitin sulfate(CS) or dermatan sulfate(DS). Decorin is a small cellular or pericellular matrix proteoglycan and is closely related in structure to biglycan protein. This protein is a component of connective tissue, binds to type I collagen fibrils, and plays a role in matrix assembly. And it also may play a role in epithelial/mesenchymal interactions during organ development and shaping. Decorin has been shown to have anti-tumorigenic properties in an experimental murine tumor model and is capable of suppressing the growth of various tumor cell lines.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a small cellular or pericellular matrix proteoglycan that is closely related in structure to biglycan protein. The encoded protein and biglycan are thought to be the result of a gene duplication. This protein is a component of connective tissue, binds to type I collagen fibrils, and plays a role in matrix assembly. It contains one attached glycosaminoglycan chain. This protein is capable of suppressing the growth of various tumor cell lines. There are multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants known for this gene. This gene is a candidate gene for Marfan syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
DCN: May affect the rate of fibrils formation. Defects in DCN are the cause of congenital stromal corneal dystrophy (CSCD). Corneal dystrophies are inherited, bilateral, primary alterations of the cornea that are not associated with prior inflammation or secondary to systemic disease. Most show autosomal dominant inheritance. Belongs to the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family. SLRP class I subfamily. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The DCN dcn (Catalog #AAA177488) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Decorin Antibody reacts with Human, Rat. No cross reactivity with other proteins. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Decorin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC-P). Western Blot: Concentration: 0.1-0.5mug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Rat Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin-embedded Section): Concentration: 0.5-1mug/ml; Tested Species: Human. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DCN dcn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Decorin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
