NCBI Description

DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure, such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. This gene encodes a DEAD box protein, which is a RNA-dependent ATPase, and also a proliferation-associated nuclear antigen, specifically reacting with the simian virus 40 tumor antigen. This gene consists of 13 exons, and alternatively spliced transcripts containing several intron sequences have been detected, but no isoforms encoded by these transcripts have been identified. Uniprot Description

DDX5: a putative ATP-dependent RNA helicase. A proliferation-associated nuclear antigen, specifically reacting with the simian virus 40 tumor antigen. The rate of ATP hydrolysis is highly stimulated by single-stranded RNA. Belongs to the DEAD box helicase family. DDX5/DDX17 subfamily.

Protein type: Helicase; RNA splicing; Nuclear receptor co-regulator; EC 3.6.4.13; Spliceosome; Nucleolus; RNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; membrane; nucleolus; nucleus; ribonucleoprotein complex

Molecular Function: calmodulin binding; protein binding; enzyme binding; androgen receptor binding; transcription coactivator activity; estrogen receptor binding; calcium-dependent protein binding; ATP-dependent RNA helicase activity; ATP binding; RNA helicase activity

Product Notes

The DDX5 ddx5 (Catalog #AAA716547) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti-human DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp) box polypeptide 5 polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp) box polypeptide 5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DDX5 ddx5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp) box polypeptide 5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
