NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the type II keratin family clustered on the long arm of chromosome 12. Type I and type II keratins heteropolymerize to form intermediate-sized filaments in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells. This gene is expressed in the companion layer, upper germinative matrix region of the hair follicle, and medulla of the hair shaft. The encoded protein plays an essential role in hair and nail formation. Variations in this gene have been associated with the hair disorders pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) and loose anagen hair syndrome (LAHS). [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

KRT75: Plays a central role in hair and nail formation. Essential component of keratin intermediate filaments in the companion layer of the hair follicle. Defects in KRT75 may be a cause of loose anagen hair syndrome (LAHS). In LAHS, anagen hairs are easily pulled from the scalp. The hair is relatively sparse and does not grow long. Hair of fair color and hair shafts of reduced caliber, and an early age of onset are features. Usually the hairs are not fragile and there are no areas of breakage. Belongs to the intermediate filament family.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13

Cellular Component: keratin filament

Molecular Function: structural molecule activity

Biological Process: hemopoietic progenitor cell differentiation

Disease: Pseudofolliculitis Barbae

Product Notes

The KRT75 krt75 (Catalog #AAA610073) is an Antibody produced from Guinea pig and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Cytokeratin K6hf reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Cytokeratin K6hf can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence Microscopy and Western Blot. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:100-1:200. Incubate at RT for 1 hour. Western Blot: 1:2000 (ECL) Immunofluorescence Microscopy: 1:100-200 using acetone fixation) and 1:100 using 4% paraformaldehyde fixation. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT75 krt75 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cytokeratin K6hf, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
