Related Product Information for anti-DNAJC5 antibody
May have an important role in presynaptic function. May be involved in calcium-dependent neurotransmitter release at nerve endings. The amino terminus of CSP contains the J domain, a consensus sequence found on a DnaJ like protein which is a member of the heatshock protein family. Since heat shock proteins serve as chaperones that participate in protein folding and protein complex formation, CSP is believed to perform similar functions in the assembly of synaptic vesicle proteins which are essential to membrane trafficking. Evidence for a role of CSP in presynaptic neurotransmitter release has come from genetic and physiological study in which the Drosophila CSP null mutant fails to elicit synaptic potential upon high frequency stimulation. CSP null mutants have a lethal phenotype and for the small percentage of mutant flies that survive, they become paralyzed and die at elevated temperature.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the J protein family. J proteins function in many cellular processes by regulating the ATPase activity of 70 kDa heat shock proteins. The encoded protein plays a role in membrane trafficking and protein folding, and has been shown to have anti-neurodegenerative properties. The encoded protein is known to play a role in cystic fibrosis and Huntington's disease. A pseudogene of this gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 8. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]

Uniprot Description

Function: May have an important role in presynaptic function. May be involved in calcium-dependent neurotransmitter release at nerve endings

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Homodimer

Probable. Interacts with the chaperone complex consisting of HSC70 and SGTA

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Membrane; Lipid-anchor

By similarity. Melanosome. Cell membrane. Note: Identified by mass spectrometry in melanosome fractions from stage I to stage IV. Ref.9 Ref.17

Tissue specificity: Expressed in pancreas, kidney, skeletal muscle, liver, lung, placenta, brain and heart. Ref.1

Post-translational modification: Fatty acylated. Heavily palmitoylated in the cysteine string motif

By similarity.

Involvement in disease: Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis 4B (CLN4B) [MIM:162350]: An adult-onset neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis. Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses are progressive neurodegenerative, lysosomal storage diseases characterized by intracellular accumulation of autofluorescent liposomal material, and clinically by seizures, dementia, visual loss, and/or cerebral atrophy. CLN4B has no visual involvement and is characterized by seizures and other neurologic symptoms.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.17

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 J domain.

Product Notes

The DNAJC5 dnajc5 (Catalog #AAA395909) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Cysteine string protein (CSP) Alpha, DNAJC5 alpha reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Cysteine string protein (CSP) Alpha, DNAJC5 alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DNAJC5 dnajc5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cysteine string protein (CSP) Alpha, DNAJC5 alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
