Preparation and Storage
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 4°C for frequent use.
Aliquot and store at -20°C for 12 months.

Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the beta-crystallin family. Beta crystallins, along with alpha and gamma crystallins, are the major proteins found in the eye lens. These proteins maintain the refractive index of the lens whilst also maintaining its transparency. Since lens central fiber cells lose their nuclei during development, crystallins are made and then retained throughout life, making them extremely stable proteins. Beta and gamma crystallins are considered be a superfamily and have a similar domain architecture, including four Greek Key motifs. Beta-crystallins form aggregates of different sizes and are able to self-associate to form dimers or to form heterodimers with other beta-crystallins. The protein encoded by this gene may have Ca2+-binding activity and could be associated with potential functions in the hippocampus and in sperm. Targeted knockout of this gene in mouse induces age-related cataract. A chain-terminating mutation in a similar gene in human was found to cause type 2 cerulean cataracts. Uniprot Description

CRYBB2: a major structural protein of the eye lens. A member of the beta/gamma-crystallin family. Defects are the cause of congenital cerulean type 2 cataract, sutural cataract with punctate and cerulean opacities, and Coppock-like cataract.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5 F|5 55.38 cM

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; structural constituent of eye lens

Biological Process: camera-type eye development; visual perception

Product Notes

The CRYbB2 crybb2 (Catalog #AAA2006023) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Crystallin Beta B2 (CRYbB2) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Crystallin Beta B2 (CRYbB2) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western blotting (WB); Immunocytochemistry (ICC); Immunohistochemistry (IHC); Immunoprecipitation (IP). Western blotting: 0.5-2 ug/mL;1:250-1000 Immunohistochemistry: 5-20 ug/mL;1:25-100 Immunocytochemistry: 5-20 ug/mL;1:25-100 Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CRYbB2 crybb2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Crystallin Beta B2 (CRYbB2), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
