Procedure
Goats were immunized with highly purified dog c-reactive protein (CRP) and the resulting antiserum was collected. The antiserum was delipidated , solid phase absorbed 0.45 um filtered. Total protein mesurement was determined by refractometer. Specific antibody content is determined immunoaffinity purification off an antigen containing immunoabsorbent.
Immunogen
Dog CRP
Specificity Note
This antiserum reacts with dog CRP as determined by IEP and Ouchterlony techniques. This antiserum may cross react with CRP from other species. Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the investigator.
Total Protein
30 mg/mL, as mesured by refractometer.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the pentaxin family. It is involved in several host defense related functions based on its ability to recognize foreign pathogens and damaged cells of the host and to initiate their elimination by interacting with humoral and cellular effector systems in the blood. Consequently, the level of this protein in plasma increases greatly during acute phase response to tissue injury, infection, or other inflammatory stimuli. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

CRP: Displays several functions associated with host defense: it promotes agglutination, bacterial capsular swelling, phagocytosis and complement fixation through its calcium-dependent binding to phosphorylcholine. Can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. Belongs to the pentaxin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q23.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; growth cone; extracellular region; filopodium

Molecular Function: choline binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; low-density lipoprotein receptor binding; complement component C1q binding; cholesterol binding; low-density lipoprotein binding; virion binding; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: protein polymerization; wound healing; defense response to Gram-positive bacterium; response to ethanol; negative regulation of vasodilation; positive regulation of superoxide release; response to lead ion; acute-phase response; response to hypoxia; opsonization; inflammatory response; complement activation, classical pathway; aging

Product Notes

The CRP crp (Catalog #AAA560221) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-Dog CRP - Antiserum reacts with Dog and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CRP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA. ELISA: Assay Dependent Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the investigator. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CRP crp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CRP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
