Background: Carboxypeptidase B2 (CPB2), also known as carboxypeptidase U (CPU), plasma carboxypeptidase B (pCPB) or thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI), is an enzyme that, in humans, is encoded by the gene CPB2. CPB2 is synthesized by the liver and circulates in the plasma as a plasminogen-bound zymogen. When it is activated by proteolysis at residue Arg92 by the thrombin/thrombomodulin complex, CPB2 exhibits carboxypeptidase activity. Activated CPB2 reduces fibrinolysis by removing the fibrin C-terminal residues that are important for the binding and activation of plasminogen.

NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes carboxypeptidase B, a zinc-dependent metalloprotease that cleaves peptide bonds at the C-terminus of protein substrates. The encoded preproprotein undergoes proteolytic activation to generate a mature, functional enzyme, and secreted into plasma. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]
Uniprot Description
CPB2: Cleaves C-terminal arginine or lysine residues from biologically active peptides such as kinins or anaphylatoxins in the circulation thereby regulating their activities. Down- regulates fibrinolysis by removing C-terminal lysine residues from fibrin that has already been partially degraded by plasmin. Belongs to the peptidase M14 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The CPB2 cpb2 (Catalog #AAA178498) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-CPB2 Antibody reacts with Mouse No cross reactivity with other proteins. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CPB2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: 0.1-0.5mug/ml; Tested Species: Mouse Tested Species:In-house tested species with positive results. Other applications have not been tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CPB2 cpb2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CPB2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
