Related Product Information for anti-COL18A1 antibody
COL18A1 is the alpha chain of type XVIII collagen. This collagen is one of the multiplexins, extracellular matrix proteins that contain multiple triple-helix domains (collagenous domains) interrupted by non-collagenous domains. The proteolytically produced C-terminal fragment of type XVIII collagen is endostatin, a potent antiangiogenic protein. Mutations in this gene are associated with Knobloch syndrome. The main features of this syndrome involve retinal abnormalities, so type XVIII collagen may play an important role in retinal structure and in neural tube closure.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the alpha chain of type XVIII collagen. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2008]

Uniprot Description

COL18A1: COLA18A probably plays a major role in determining the retinal structure as well as in the closure of the neural tube. Defects in COL18A1 are a cause of Knobloch syndrome type 1 (KNO1). An autosomal recessive disorder defined by the occurrence of high myopia, vitreoretinal degeneration with retinal detachment, macular abnormalities and occipital encephalocele. Belongs to the multiplexin collagen family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative promoter.

Product Notes

The COL18A1 col18a1 (Catalog #AAA6287593) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The COL18A1, ID (COL18A1, Collagen alpha-1(XVIII) chain, Endostatin) (APC) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's COL18A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), FLISA, Western Blot (WB). IHC: 1:50-100 FLISA: 1:1,000 WB: 1:100-500 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COL18A1 col18a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "COL18A1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
