Related Product Information for anti-CNGA2 antibody
The cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP are implicated in signal transduction events such as the visual transduction, relaxation of smooth muscles, intestinal secretion of water and salt, reabsorption of Na+ and water in the distal tubule of the nephrons. cAMP/cGMP activate Ca2+ -permeable ion channels called cyclic nucleotide-gated channels (CNG or CNC). Activation of CNG leads to depolarization of the membrane voltage and to a concomitant increase of the cytosolic Ca2+. CNG consists of two distinct subunits, designated a and b subunits. Several CNG a-subunits (CNG alpha 1-3) & beta subunits (subunit 2 or CNGb1-2 or CNG4-5) and numerous isoforms. a-subunit can form functional channel by themselves. b-subunits modulate the channel property of a-subunits. CNG display intracellular N and C-termini, 6 transmembrane domains or segments (S1-S6). The region between S5 and S6 contains the ion-conducting pore (P). The cyclic nucleotide-binding region is found at the c-terminus. Native functional CNG may exists as heteromultimer containing some combination of a, and b subunits. CNG2 or OCNC1 (rat/mouse/rabbit 664 aa, bovine 663 aa) is primarily expressed in olfactory sensory neurons. It is ~80% homologous with CNG1. Unlike CNG1, CNG2 is activated both by cAMP and cGMP. Another cGMP-gated channel called CNG3 (mouse 537aa, rat 61 aa, human, 694aa, bovine 706aa, chicken 64 aa) has been cloned from heart, kidney, testis, sperm, and taste buds.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene represents the alpha subunit of a cyclic nucleotide-gated olfactory channel. The encoded protein contains a carboxy-terminal leucine zipper that mediates channel formation. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

CNGA2: Odorant signal transduction is probably mediated by a G- protein coupled cascade using cAMP as second messenger. The olfactory channel can be shown to be activated by cyclic nucleotides which leads to a depolarization of olfactory sensory neurons. Belongs to the cyclic nucleotide-gated cation channel (TC 1.A.1.5) family. CNGA2 subfamily.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xq27

Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: calmodulin binding; voltage-gated potassium channel activity; intracellular cGMP activated cation channel activity; cGMP binding; cAMP binding

Biological Process: phototransduction, visible light; regulation of membrane potential; organelle organization and biogenesis; sensory perception of smell

Product Notes

The CNGA2 cnga2 (Catalog #AAA611339) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CNG2 (Cyclic Nucleotide-Gated Channels 2) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CNG2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 (ECL). ELISA: 1:10,000-1:50,000. Coat ELISA plates at 1ug/ml with Control Peptide. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CNGA2 cnga2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CNG2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
