Related Product Information for anti-CLC-6 antibody
The family of voltage-dependent chloride channels (CLCs) regulate cellular trafficking of chloride ions, a critical component of all living cells. CLCs regulate excitability in muscle and nerve cells, aid in organic solute transport and maintain cellular volume. The genes encoding human CLC-1 through CLC-7 map to chromosomes 7, 3q26, 4q32, Xp22, Xp11, 1p36 and 16p13, respectively. CLC-1 is highly expressed in skeletal muscle. Mutations in the gene encoding CLC-1 lead to myotonia, an inheritable disorder characterized by muscle stiffness and renal salt wasting. CLC-2 is highly expressed in the epithelia of several organs including lung, which suggests CLC-2 may be a possible therapeutic target for cystic fibrosis. CLC-3 expression is particularly abundant in neuronal tissue, while CLC-4 expression is evident in skeletal and cardiac muscle as well as brain. Mutations in the gene encoding CLC-5 lead to Dents disease, a renal disorder characterized by proteinuria and hypercalciuria. CLC-6 and CLC-7 are broadly expressed in several tissues including testes, kidney, brain and muscle.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the voltage-dependent chloride channel protein family. Members of this family can function as either chloride channels or antiporters. This protein is primarily localized to late endosomes and functions as a chloride/proton antiporter. Alternate splicing results in both coding and non-coding variants. Additional alternately spliced variants have been described but their full-length structure is unknown. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2012]

Uniprot Description

Function: Chloride transport protein, initially identified as voltage-gated chloride channel. The presence of the conserved gating glutamate residues suggests that is functions as antiporter.

Subcellular location: Endosome membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Note: Detected in detergent-resistant lipid rafts. Ref.11

Tissue specificity: Testis, ovary, small intestine, brain and skeletal muscle. Low level expression in aortic and coronary vascular smooth muscle cells, and aortic endothelial cells. Isoform 3 is only detected in kidney. Ref.1 Ref.2 Ref.10

Post-translational modification: N-glycosylated on several asparagine residues. Ref.11

Miscellaneous: The CLC channel family contains both chloride channels and proton-coupled anion transporters that exchange chloride or another anion for protons. The presence of conserved gating glutamate residues is typical for family members that function as antiporters

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the chloride channel (TC 2.A.49) family. ClC-6/CLCN6 subfamily. [View classification]Contains 2 CBS domains.

Product Notes

The CLC-6 clcn6 (Catalog #AAA3003421) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CLC-6 (K649) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CLC-6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CLC-6 clcn6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CLC-6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
