Target Description: Chmp5 is a probable peripherally associated component of the endosomal sorting required for transport complex III (ESCRT-III) which is involved in multivesicular bodies (MVBs) formation and sorting of endosomal cargo proteins into MVBs. MVBs contain intraluminal vesicles (ILVs) that are generated by invagination and scission from the limiting membrane of the endosome and mostly are delivered to lysosomes enabling degradation of membrane proteins, such as stimulated growth factor receptors, lysosomal enzymes and lipids. The MVB pathway appears to require the sequential function of ESCRT-O, -I,-II and -III complexes. ESCRT-III proteins mostly dissociate from the invaginating membrane before the ILV is released. The ESCRT machinery also functions in topologically equivalent membrane fission events, such as the terminal stages of cytokinesis. ESCRT-III proteins are believed to mediate the necessary vesicle extrusion and/or membrane fission activities, possibly in conjunction with the AAA ATPase VPS4.

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Probable peripherally associated component of the endosomal sorting required for transport complex III (ESCRT-III). ESCRT-III components are thought to multimerize to form a flat lattice on the perimeter membrane of the endosome. Several assembly forms of ESCRT-III may exist that interact and act sequentally. Interacts with VTA1. Interacts with CHMP2A. Interacts with VTA1; the interaction involves soluble CHMP5

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm › cytosol

By similarity. Endosome membrane; Peripheral membrane protein

By similarity. Note: Localizes to the midbody of dividing cells. Localized in two distinct rings on either side of the Fleming body

By similarity.

Post-translational modification: ISGylated. Isgylation inhibits its interaction with VTA1

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the SNF7 family.

Product Notes

The CHMP5 chmp5 (Catalog #AAA3216938) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Chmp5 Antibody - C-terminal region reacts with Cow, Dog, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat, Zebrafish and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Chmp5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CHMP5 chmp5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: LDALGDELLA DEDSSYLDEA ASAPAIPEGV PTDTKNKDGV LVDEFGLPQI. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Chmp5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
