Related Product Information for anti-CENPM antibody
The centromere is a specialized chromatin domain, present throughout the cell cycle, that acts as a platform on which the transient assembly of the kinetochore occurs during mitosis. All active centromeres are characterized by the presence of long arrays of nucleosomes in which CENPA (MIM 117139) replaces histone H3 (see MIM 601128). CENPM is an additional factor required for centromere assembly (Foltz et al., 2006 [PubMed 16622419]).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is an inner protein of the kinetochore, the multi-protein complex that binds spindle microtubules to regulate chromosome segregation during cell division. It belongs to the constitutive centromere-associated network protein group, whose members interact with outer kinetochore proteins and help to maintain centromere identity at each cell division cycle. The protein is structurally related to GTPases but cannot bind guanosine triphosphate. A point mutation that affects interaction with another constitutive centromere-associated network protein, CENP-I, impairs kinetochore assembly and chromosome alignment, suggesting that it is required for kinetochore formation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]

Uniprot Description

CENPM: Component of the CENPA-NAC (nucleosome-associated) complex, a complex that plays a central role in assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. The CENPA-NAC complex recruits the CENPA-CAD (nucleosome distal) complex and may be involved in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.2

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytosol

Biological Process: nucleosome assembly; DNA replication-independent nucleosome assembly at centromere; mitotic cell cycle

Product Notes

The CENPM cenpm (Catalog #AAA6373667) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CENPM (C22orf18, ICEN39, PANE1, Centromere Protein M, Interphase Centromere Complex Protein 39, Proliferation-associated Nuclear Element Protein 1, MGC861, PANE1, BK250D10.2) (FITC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CENPM can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CENPM cenpm for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CENPM, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
