Western Blot: Approx 75kDa band observed in Human Testes lysates (calculated MW of 66.5kDa according to NP_004815.2). The observed molecular weight corresponds to earlier findings in literature with different antibodies (Lahn et al, Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A.2002 Jun 25;99(13): 8707-12; PMID: 12072557). Recommended concentration: 1-3ug/ml. An additional band of unknown identity was also consistently observed at 26kDa. This band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunising peptide.

Chromodomain Y is a primate-specific Y-chromosomal gene family expressed exclusively in the testis and implicated in infertility. Although the Y-linked genes are testis-specific, this autosomal gene is ubiquitously expressed. The Y-linked genes arose by retrotransposition of an mRNA from this gene, followed by amplification of the retroposed gene. Proteins encoded by this gene superfamily possess a chromodomain, a motif implicated in chromatin binding and gene suppression, and a catalytic domain believed to be involved in histone acetylation.
