Related Product Information for anti-CDH16 antibody
This gene is a member of the cadherin superfamily, genes encoding calcium-dependent, membrane-associated glycoproteins. Mapped to a previously identified cluster of cadherin genes on chromosome 16q22.1, the gene localizes with superfamily members CDH1, CDH3, CDH5, CDH8 and CDH11. The protein consists of an extracellular domain containing 6 cadherin domains, a transmembrane region and a truncated cytoplasmic domain but lacks the prosequence and tripeptide HAV adhesion recognition sequence typical of most classical cadherins. Expression is exclusively in kidney, where the protein functions as the principal mediator of homotypic cellular recognition, playing a role in the morphogenic direction of tissue development. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.

NCBI Description

[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

Uniprot Description

Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types.

Product Notes

The CDH16 cdh16 (Catalog #AAA9429596) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CDH16 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CDH16 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1: 40-200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDH16 cdh16 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CDH16, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
