Also expressed in cells with phenotypes reminiscent of mesenchymal stem cells and neural stem cells.

Immunofluorescene (IF)

(MBS9600405 staining COLO205 by IF/ICC. The sample were fixed with PFA and permeabilized in 0.1% Triton X-100, then blocked in 10% serum for 45 minutes at 25 degree C. The primary antibody was diluted at 1/200 and incubated with the sample for 1 hour at 37 degree C. An Alexa Fluor 594 conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG (H+L) Ab, diluted at 1/600, was used as the secondary antibody.)

Description: CDCP1 a transmembrane protein containing three extracellular CUB domains. Overexpressed in some colon and lung cancers. Its expression level is correlated with the metastatic ability of carcinoma cells. It has been shown to be tyrosine phosphorylated in a cancer cell line. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
Function: May be involved in cell adhesion and cell matrix association. May play a role in the regulation of anchorage versus migration or proliferation versus differentiation via its phosphorylation. May be a novel marker for leukemia identification and for immature hematopoietic stem cell subsets. Belongs to the tetraspanin web involved in tumor progression and metastasis.
