Background: CD86 is officially called Cluster of Differentiation 86, also known as B7-2. Being a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, it is a protein expressed on antigen-presenting cells. The CD86 gene is mapped to human chromosome 3q21. The smallest transcript, 828 bp, which the authors termed CD86deltaTM, has a deletion from nucleotide 686 to nucleotide 829(i.e., exon 6) and encodes a 275-amino acid protein. CD86deltaTM enhances proliferation and cytokine production by both naive and memory T cells, providing costimulatory signals necessary for T cell activation and survival.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
CD86: Receptor involved in the costimulatory signal essential for T-lymphocyte proliferation and interleukin-2 production, by binding CD28 or CTLA-4. May play a critical role in the early events of T-cell activation and costimulation of naive T-cells, such as deciding between immunity and anergy that is made by T- cells within 24 hours after activation. Isoform 2 interferes with the formation of CD86 clusters, and thus acts as a negative regulator of T-cell activation. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Immunoglobulin superfamily; Membrane protein, integral
Cellular Component: cell surface; intracellular membrane-bound organelle; membrane; integral to membrane; plasma membrane; external side of plasma membrane
Molecular Function: receptor binding
Biological Process: B cell activation; negative regulation of T cell anergy; immune system process; toll-like receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of T cell proliferation; positive regulation of activated T cell proliferation; defense response to virus

Product Notes
The CD86 cd86 (Catalog #AAA175613) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-CD86 antibody reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD86 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: Concentration: 0.1-0.5ug/ml Tested Species: MS Predicted Species: - Antigen Retrieval: - Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. Predicted Species: Specices predicted to be fit for the product based on sequence similarities. Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end users. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD86 cd86 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD86, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
