NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a scaffolding molecule that regulates the actin cytoskeleton. The protein directly interacts with filamentous actin and a variety of cell membrane proteins through multiple actin binding sites, SH3 domains, and a proline-rich region containing binding sites for SH3 domains. The cytoplasmic protein localizes to membrane ruffles, lipid rafts, and the leading edges of cells. It is implicated in dynamic actin remodeling and membrane trafficking that occurs during receptor endocytosis and cytokinesis. Haploinsufficiency of this gene is implicated in susceptibility to glomerular disease. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
CD2AP: an adapter protein between membrane proteins and the actin cytoskeleton. May play a role in receptor clustering and cytoskeletal polarity in the junction between T-cell and antigen-presenting cell. May anchor the podocyte slit diaphragm to the actin cytoskeleton in renal glomerolus. Required for cytokinesis. Links CD2 engagement to the WASp-evoked actin polymerization required for synapse formation and T cell activation. Attaches to membrane proteins via its three SH3 domains and attaches to and rearranges the cytoskeleton via its C-terminus. CD2AP?s interactions with the cytoskeleton result in receptor clustering and endocysosis as well as targeting proteins to degradative vesicles in the kidney. Mice carrying a heterozygous knockout of CD2AP show defects in kidney filtration, and mutations in the human gene are associated with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS3).

Product Notes
The CD2AP cd2ap (Catalog #AAA9400919) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CD2AP Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD2AP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Western blotting: 1:1000-1:5000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:100-1:300. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD2AP cd2ap for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD2AP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
