Related Product Information for anti-CCL20 antibody
Chemokines are a family of related proteins that regulate leukocyte migration (including into tissues) and activation in the face of inflammatory stimulus. CCL20/LARC/EXODUS/MIP-3 has been shown to be highly expressed in liver, and preferentially in lymphocytes and monocytes where its expression is upregulated by mediators of inflammation.

NCBI Description

This antimicrobial gene belongs to the subfamily of small cytokine CC genes. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The CC cytokines are proteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines. The protein encoded by this gene displays chemotactic activity for lymphocytes and can repress proliferation of myeloid progenitors. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2014]

Uniprot Description

CCL20: Chemotactic factor that attracts lymphocytes and, slightly, neutrophils, but not monocytes. Inhibits proliferation of myeloid progenitors in colony formation assays. May be involved in formation and function of the mucosal lymphoid tissues by attracting lymphocytes and dendritic cells towards epithelial cells. C-terminal processed forms have been shown to be equally chemotactically active for leukocytes. Possesses antibacterial activity E.coli ATCC 25922 and S.aureus ATCC 29213. Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Chemokine; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q36.3

Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region

Molecular Function: protein binding; chemokine activity

Biological Process: cell-cell signaling; wound healing; defense response to bacterium; immune response; signal transduction; chemotaxis; positive regulation of interleukin-1 alpha biosynthetic process; inflammatory response; positive regulation of nitric-oxide synthase biosynthetic process

Product Notes

The CCL20 ccl20 (Catalog #AAA247211) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat Polyclonal to Human CCL20 / MIP-3-Alpha reacts with Gorilla, Human Predicted Reactivity: Gibbon, Monkey (at least 90% immunogen sequence identity) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CCL20 / MIP-3-Alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), ELISA (EIA). ELISA (1:16000), IHC-P (6.12 ug/ml) Usage: Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:16000. Western blot: Preliminary experiments in Human Peripheral Blood Mononucleocytes lysates gave no specific signal but low background (at antibody concentration up to 2 ug/ml). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CCL20 ccl20 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CCL20 / MIP-3-Alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
