NCBI Description

This gene encodes a G-protein coupled receptor for gastrin and cholecystokinin (CCK), regulatory peptides of the brain and gastrointestinal tract. This protein is a type B gastrin receptor, which has a high affinity for both sulfated and nonsulfated CCK analogs and is found principally in the central nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. A misspliced transcript variant including an intron has been observed in cells from colorectal and pancreatic tumors. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

Uniprot Description

CCKBR: Receptor for gastrin and cholecystokinin. The CKK-B receptors occur throughout the central nervous system where they modulate anxiety, analgesia, arousal, and neuroleptic activity. This receptor mediates its action by association with G proteins that activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Receptor, GPCR; GPCR, family 1; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11p15.4

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: 1-phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase regulator activity; cholecystokinin receptor activity; gastrin receptor activity; phosphoinositide phospholipase C activity; protein binding; type B gastrin/cholecystokinin receptor binding

Biological Process: cell proliferation; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; digestion; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; feeding behavior; G-protein signaling, coupled to IP3 second messenger (phospholipase C activating); gastric acid secretion; gland development; gut development; positive regulation of cell proliferation; regulation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase activity; sensory perception

Product Notes

The CCKBR cckbr (Catalog #AAA421039) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-CCKBR Antibody reacts with Tested: Human, Mouse, Rat Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CCKBR can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:16000. Western blot: Approx 80kDa band observed in Mouse Pancreas and Rat Stomach lysates (calculated MW of 49.2kDa according to Mouse NP_031653.1and 49.0kDa according to Rat NP_037297.1). In paraffin embedded Human Pancreas expression of CCKBR is detected in islet cells, and not in surrounding acinar cells. Recommended concentration: 6ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CCKBR cckbr for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: FDGDSDSDSQ SRVRNQ. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CCKBR, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
