Related Product Information for anti-CASP7 antibody
Caspase-7 (CMH-1, Mch3, ICE-LAP3) has been identified as a major contributor to the execution of apoptosis (2-4). Caspase-7 is an effector caspase (along with caspase-2 and -3), meaning that it cleaves essential cellular machinery rather than activating other caspases (5-8). Caspase-7 is cleaved by many enzymes, including caspases-3, -6, -8, -9 and granzyme B (1,4,5). Once activated, caspase-7 cleaves many of the same substrates as caspase-3, including poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase, or PARP (2,4).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein which is a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes which undergo proteolytic processing at conserved aspartic residues to produce two subunits, large and small, that dimerize to form the active enzyme. The precursor of this caspase is cleaved by caspase 3 and 10. It is activated upon cell death stimuli and induces apoptosis. Alternative splicing results in four transcript variants, encoding three distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

CASP7: Involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs). Proteolytically cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) at a '216-Asp-|-Gly- 217' bond. Overexpression promotes programmed cell death. Heterotetramer that consists of two anti-parallel arranged heterodimers, each one formed by a 20 kDa (p20) and a 11 kDa (p11) subunit. Interacts with BIRC6/bruce. Highly expressed in lung, skeletal muscle, liver, kidney, spleen and heart, and moderately in testis. No expression in the brain. Inhibited by isatin sulfonamides. Belongs to the peptidase C14A family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CASP7 casp7 (Catalog #AAA610979) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Caspase 7, Cleavage Site (Asp198) (Mch-3, ICE-LAP3, CMH-1) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Caspase 7, Cleavage Site can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunocytochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000. Detects a band at~20kD. Immunoprecipitation: 1:100 Immunocytochemistry (ABC): 1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CASP7 casp7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Caspase 7, Cleavage Site, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
