NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The product of this gene is a calcium-binding protein localized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and it is involved in such ER functions as protein folding and sorting. This protein belongs to a family of multiple EF-hand proteins (CERC) that include reticulocalbin, ERC-55, and Cab45 and the product of this gene. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]
Uniprot Description
CALU: Involved in regulation of vitamin K-dependent carboxylation of multiple N-terminal glutamate residues. Seems to inhibit gamma-carboxylase GGCX. Binds 7 calcium ions with a low affinity. Belongs to the CREC family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Calcium-binding; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q32.1
Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum; endoplasmic reticulum lumen; endoplasmic reticulum membrane; extracellular region; Golgi apparatus; melanosome; membrane; sarcoplasmic reticulum lumen
Molecular Function: calcium ion binding; protein binding

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Calumenin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
