Related Product Information for anti-CALHM1 antibody
Pore-forming subunit of a voltage-gated ion channel required for sensory perception of sweet, bitter and umami tastes. Specifically present in type II taste bud cells, where it plays a central role in sweet, bitter and umami taste perception by inducing ATP release from the cell, ATP acting as a neurotransmitter to activate afferent neural gustatory pathways. Acts both as a voltage-gated and calcium-activated ion channel: mediates neuronal excitability in response to changes in extracellular Ca2+ concentration. Has poor ion selectivity and forms a wide pore (around 14 Angstroms) that mediates permeation of Ca2+, Na+ and K+, as well as permeation of monovalent anions. Acts as an activator of the ERK1 and ERK2 cascade. Triggers endoplasmic reticulum stress by reducing the calcium content of the endoplasmic reticulum. May indirectly control amyloid precursor protein (APP) proteolysis and aggregated amyloid-beta (Abeta) peptides levels in a Ca2+ dependent manner.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a calcium channel that plays a role in processing of amyloid-beta precursor protein. A polymorphism at this locus has been reported to be associated with susceptibility to late-onset Alzheimer's disease in some populations, but the pathogenicity of this polymorphism is unclear.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

Uniprot Description

CALHM1: May be a pore-forming ion channel. Controls cytosolic Ca(2+) permeability and cytosolic Ca(2+) concentration. Controls amyloid precursor protein (APP) proteolysis and aggregated amyloid-beta (Abeta) peptides levels in a Ca(2+) dependent manner. Belongs to the FAM26 family.

Product Notes

The CALHM1 calhm1 (Catalog #AAA1493491) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti-human Calcium homeostasis modulator protein 1 polyclonal Antibody(CALHM1) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Calcium homeostasis modulator protein 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Recommended dilution: WB:1:500-5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CALHM1 calhm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Calcium homeostasis modulator protein 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
