Related Product Information for anti-CACNA1E antibody
Voltage-dependent Ca2+ channelsmediate Ca2+ entryinto excitable cells in response tomembrane depolarization, and they are involved in a variety of Ca2+-dependent processes, includingmuscle contraction, hormone or neurotransmitter release and gene expression. Calciumchannels are highly diverse, multimeric complexescomposed of analpha-1 subunit, an intracellular beta-subunit, a disulfide linkedalpha-2/delta-subunit and a transmembrane gamma-subunit. Ca2+ currents are characterized on the basis of their biophysical and pharmacologic properties and include L-, N-, T-, P-, Q-, and R-types. R-type Ca++ currentsinitiate a rapid synaptictransmission that isregulated through G proteins, SNARE proteins, and protein phosphorylation. R-type Ca++ channels may partially regulate the secretory processin chromaffin cells bymediating rapid secretoryresponses evoked byshort depolarizing pulses.

NCBI Description

Voltage-dependent calcium channels are multisubunit complexes consisting of alpha-1, alpha-2, beta, and delta subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. These channels mediate the entry of calcium ions into excitable cells, and are also involved in a variety of calcium-dependent processes, including muscle contraction, hormone or neurotransmitter release, gene expression, cell motility, cell division and cell death. This gene encodes the alpha-1E subunit of the R-type calcium channels, which belong to the 'high-voltage activated' group that maybe involved in the modulation of firing patterns of neurons important for information processing. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2011]

Uniprot Description

CACNA1E: Voltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCC) mediate the entry of calcium ions into excitable cells and are also involved in a variety of calcium-dependent processes, including muscle contraction, hormone or neurotransmitter release, gene expression, cell motility, cell division and cell death. The isoform alpha-1E gives rise to R-type calcium currents. R-type calcium channels belong to the 'high-voltage activated' (HVA) group and are blocked by nickel, and partially by omega-agatoxin-IIIA (omega-Aga-IIIA). They are however insensitive to dihydropyridines (DHP), omega- conotoxin-GVIA (omega-CTx-GVIA), and omega-agatoxin-IVA (omega- Aga-IVA). Calcium channels containing alpha-1E subunit could be involved in the modulation of firing patterns of neurons which is important for information processing. Belongs to the calcium channel alpha-1 subunit (TC 1.A.1.11) family. CACNA1E subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CACNA1E cacna1e (Catalog #AAA3006506) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CACNA1E Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CACNA1E can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CACNA1E cacna1e for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CACNA1E, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
