NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a subunit of the intraflagellar transport complex A (IFT-A). IFT-A is a multiprotein complex that plays an important role in cilia assembly and maintenance by mediating retrograde ciliary transport. Mutations in this gene are a cause of cranioectodermal dysplasia-3 (CED3), also known as Sensenbrenner syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
Uniprot Description
IFT43: Component of IFT complex A (IFT-A) involved in retrograde ciliary transport along microtubules from the ciliary tip to the base. Defects in IFT43 are the cause of cranioectodermal dysplasia type 3 (CED3). A disorder characterized by craniofacial, skeletal and ectodermal abnormalities. Clinical features include craniosynostosis, narrow rib cage, short limbs, brachydactyly, hypoplastic and widely spaced teeth, sparse hair, skin laxity and abnormal nails. Nephronophthisis leading to progressive renal failure, hepatic fibrosis, heart defects, and retinitis pigmentosa have also been described. Belongs to the IFT43 family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Unknown function
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 14q24.3
Cellular Component: microtubule cytoskeleton; cytoplasm; microtubule organizing center
Biological Process: organelle organization and biogenesis
Disease: Cranioectodermal Dysplasia 3

The IFT43 ift43 (Catalog #AAA9203073) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 145-171. The C14orf179 Antibody (Center) reacts with Reactivity: Human, Mouse Predicted: Bovine and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's C14orf179 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Flow Cytometry (FC), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000 IHC-P~~1:50~100 FC~~1:10~50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IFT43 ift43 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "C14orf179, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
