Related Product Information for anti-BIRC5 antibody
This gene is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) gene family, which encode negative regulatory proteins that prevent apoptotic cell death. IAP family members usually contain multiple baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) domains, but this gene encodes proteins with only a single BIR domain. The encoded proteins also lack a C-terminus RING finger domain. Gene expression is high during fetal development and in most tumors, yet low in adult tissues. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene.

Uniprot Description

Survivin: an apoptosis inhibitor that is expressed during the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. Associates with the microtubules of the mitotic spindle and any disruption results in the loss of apoptosis activity. May play a role in neoplasia. Inhibitor of caspase-3 and caspase-7. Two splice variant isoforms have been described.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q25

Cellular Component: centriole; nuclear chromosome; microtubule; spindle microtubule; cytoplasmic microtubule; cytoplasm; spindle; midbody; nucleus; cytosol; interphase microtubule organizing center; chromosome, pericentric region

Molecular Function: tubulin binding; identical protein binding; protein binding; enzyme binding; protein homodimerization activity; zinc ion binding; protein heterodimerization activity; metal ion binding; microtubule binding; chaperone binding; caspase inhibitor activity; ubiquitin-protein ligase activity; cysteine protease inhibitor activity; cofactor binding; Ran GTPase binding; cobalt ion binding

Product Notes

The BIRC5 birc5 (Catalog #AAA9405312) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BIRC5 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BIRC5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Western blotting: 1:500 - 1:2000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50 - 1:100 Immunofluorescence: 1:50 - 1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BIRC5 birc5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BIRC5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
