NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a SRC homology 3 domain-containing protein. The encoded protein interacts with the proapoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family, Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) and may be involved in regulating apoptotic signaling pathways. This protein may also be involved in maintaining mitochondrial morphology. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
Uniprot Description
SH3GLB1: May be required for normal outer mitochondrial membrane dynamics. Required for coatomer-mediated retrograde transport in certain cells. May recruit other proteins to membranes with high curvature. May promote membrane fusion. Binds DNM1, HTT, AMPH, BIN1 and ARFGAP1. Homodimer, and heterodimer with SH3GLB2. Binds BAX. Induction of apoptosis augments BAX binding. Highly expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, kidney and placenta. Detected at lower levels in brain, colon, thymus, spleen, liver, small intestine, lung and peripheral blood leukocytes. Belongs to the endophilin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Autophagy; Mitochondrial; Transferase; Apoptosis; EC 2.3.1.-
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p22
Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; mitochondrial outer membrane; cytoplasm
Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; lipid binding

Product Notes
The SH3GLB1 sh3glb1 (Catalog #AAA615026) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Bif-1 (Bax interacting factor-1, SH3GLB1; Bif-1; CGI-61; KIAA0491; SH3-domain GRB2-like endophilin B1; endophilin B1, SH3-containing protein SH3GLB1; SH3-domain, GRB2-like, endophilin B1; SH3-containing protein SH3GLB1 CGI-61 protein endophilin B1) reacts with Canine, Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Bif-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:32,000. Western Blot: Approx 38kD band observed in lysates of Human T cell line Jurkat and in Human Lung and Placenta (calculated MW of 40.8kD according to NP_057093.1). Recommended concentration: 0.3-1.0 ug/ml. A minor band of unknown identity was also consistently observed at 50kD in Jurkat and Placenta. This band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. We would appreciate any feedback from people in the field-have any results been reported with other antibodies/lysates? Have any further splice variants/modified forms been reported?, Staining (0.3ug/ml) of Jurkat lysate (RIPA buffer, 35ug total protein per lane). Primary incubated for 1 hour. Detected by western blot using chemiluminescence.Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SH3GLB1 sh3glb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bif-1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
