Related Product Information for anti-BCL2 antibody
Bcl-2 Antibody: Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Disruption of this process has been implicated in a variety of diseases such as cancer. Bcl-2 is the founding member of a family of over 20 proteins that are critical regulators of apoptosis. These can be divided into two classes: those that inhibit apoptosis and those that promote cell death. Bcl-2 is an inner mitochondrial membrane protein that inhibits apoptosis. It is thought to act by interacting with pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members such as Bak and Bad. Overexpression of Bcl-2 has been linked to human cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an integral outer mitochondrial membrane protein that blocks the apoptotic death of some cells such as lymphocytes. Constitutive expression of BCL2, such as in the case of translocation of BCL2 to Ig heavy chain locus, is thought to be the cause of follicular lymphoma. Two transcript variants, produced by alternate splicing, differ in their C-terminal ends. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Bcl-2: a antiapoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family. Regulates cell death by controlling the mitochondrial membrane permeability. Inhibits caspase activity either by preventing the release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria and/or by binding to the apoptosis-activating factor (APAF-1). Phosphorylation by JNKs may increase its antiapoptotic functions.

Product Notes

The BCL2 bcl2 (Catalog #AAA151006) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Bcl-2 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Bcl-2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Bcl-2 antibody can be used for detection of Bcl-2 by Western blot at 1 to 4 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunocytochemistry starting at 2 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BCL2 bcl2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bcl-2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
