Related Product Information for anti-BCAR3 antibody
BCAR3 Antibody: Breast cancer anti-estrogen resistance 3 (BCAR3) was identified in the search for genes involved in the development of estrogen resistance. It contains a putative src homology 2 (SH2) domain and is partly homologous to the cell division cycle protein CDC48. BCAR3 is a binding partner with Cas, an adapter molecule that plays a role in cell proliferation, survival, cell adhesion, and mobility. BCAR3 functions synergistically with Cas to enhance Src activation and promote cell migration, and has been suggested to regulate Cas/Src association, Src kinase activity, and breast cancer adhesion signaling.

NCBI Description

Breast tumors are initially dependent on estrogens for growth and progression and can be inhibited by anti-estrogens such as tamoxifen. However, breast cancers progress to become anti-estrogen resistant. Breast cancer anti-estrogen resistance gene 3 was identified in the search for genes involved in the development of estrogen resistance. The gene encodes a component of intracellular signal transduction that causes estrogen-independent proliferation in human breast cancer cells. The protein contains a putative src homology 2 (SH2) domain, a hall mark of cellular tyrosine kinase signaling molecules, and is partly homologous to the cell division cycle protein CDC48. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]

Uniprot Description

BCAR3: a ubiquitously expressed regulator of R-Ras activity that has been implicated in breast cancer. A GDP exchange factor whose overexpression confers antiestrogen resistance, activates Rac, PAK1, and the cyclin D1. Can accelerate the degradation of IRS-1, thus regulating signaling through the insulin receptor. When overexpressed, it confers anti-estrogen resistance in breast cancer cell lines. May also be regulated by cellular adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins. Up-regulated by interleukin-1-alpha and TNF-beta in thymus cortical reticular cell lines (mouse). Two alternatively spliced human isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; GEFs; GEFs, Ras; Adaptor/scaffold

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p22.1

Molecular Function: protein binding; guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity

Biological Process: response to drug; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; lens morphogenesis in camera-type eye; signal transduction; positive regulation of peptidyl-serine phosphorylation; positive regulation of GTPase activity

Product Notes

The BCAR3 bcar3 (Catalog #AAA150648) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BCAR3 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BCAR3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF). BCAR3 antibody can be used for detection of BCAR3 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BCAR3 bcar3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BCAR3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
