Related Product Information for anti-B3GNT5 antibody
B3GNT5 is a member of the beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase family. This enzyme is a type II membrane protein. It exhibits strong activity to transfer GlcNAc to glycolipid substrates and is identified as the most likely candidate for lactotriaosylceramide synthase. This enzyme is essential for the expression of Lewis X epitopes on glycolipids.

Uniprot Description

B3GNT5: Beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase that plays a key role in the synthesis of lacto- or neolacto-series carbohydrate chains on glycolipids, notably by participating in biosynthesis of HNK-1 and Lewis X carbohydrate structures. Has strong activity toward lactosylceramide (LacCer) and neolactotetraosylceramide (nLc(4)Cer; paragloboside), resulting in the synthesis of Lc(3)Cer and neolactopentaosylceramide (nLc(5)Cer), respectively. Probably plays a central role in regulating neolacto-series glycolipid synthesis during embryonic development. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 31 family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; EC 2.4.1.206; Glycan Metabolism - glycosphingolipid biosynthesis - lacto and neolacto series; Transferase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q28

Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; integral to membrane; intracellular

Molecular Function: lactosylceramide 1,3-N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminyltransferase activity; galactosyltransferase activity; beta-galactosyl-N-acetylglucosaminylgalactosylglucosyl-ceramide beta-1,3-acetylglucosaminyltransferase activity

Biological Process: protein amino acid O-linked glycosylation; cellular protein metabolic process; central nervous system development; O-glycan processing; glycolipid biosynthetic process; protein amino acid glycosylation; post-translational protein modification

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "B3GNT5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
