Related Product Information for anti-AXIN1 antibody
beta-catenin is a component of both the cadherin cell adhesion system and the Wnt signaling pathway. Wnt signaling increases the amount of beta-catenin by preventing its ubiquitination and degradation, allowing its direct interaction with transcription factors of the lymphoid enhancer factor/T cell factor family, and modulation of gene expression. Axin is involved in the degradation of beta-catenin by acting as a scaffold to form a complex between beta-catenin, adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) and GSK-3beta. APC, which is phosphorylated by GSK-3beta, induces degradation of beta-catenin, thus inhibiting Wnt signal transduction. Conductin is 45% identical to Axin and appears to play a similar role to Axin in the Wnt signaling pathway.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cytoplasmic protein which contains a regulation of G-protein signaling (RGS) domain and a dishevelled and axin (DIX) domain. The encoded protein interacts with adenomatosis polyposis coli, catenin beta-1, glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta, protein phosphate 2, and itself. This protein functions as a negative regulator of the wingless-type MMTV integration site family, member 1 (WNT) signaling pathway and can induce apoptosis. The crystal structure of a portion of this protein, alone and in a complex with other proteins, has been resolved. Mutations in this gene have been associated with hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatoblastomas, ovarian endometriod adenocarcinomas, and medullablastomas. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]

Uniprot Description

axin 1: is a negative regulator of the Wnt pathway, which is critical in stem cell signaling, morphogenesis, the mesenchymal-epithelial transition, and many cancers. Axin-1 functions as a tumor suppressor. Probably facilitates the phosphorylation of beta-catenin and APC by GSK3B, leading to their ubiquitination and subsequent proteolysis. Wild-type axin 1 can induce apoptosis in hepatocellular and colorectal cancer cells. Is downregulated during progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Mutation of the axin-1 gene is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma, anaplastic thyroid cancer, medulloblastoma and colorectal cancer. May have a role in oncogenesis in Hodgkin lymphoma. Axin1/2 mediate cross-talk between TGF-beta and Wnt signaling pathways.

Product Notes

The AXIN1 axin1 (Catalog #AAA3006392) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AXIN1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's AXIN1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AXIN1 axin1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AXIN1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
