Related Product Information for anti-Serpinc1 antibody
Antithrombin, also known as Antithrombin III (ATIII), is a member of the SERPIN family of proteinase inhibitors and the primary inhibitor of thrombin in plasma. It is produced in the liver and circulates in plasma at ~200 ug/ml (~3.5 uM). Antithrombin inhibits a broad spectrum of serine proteases including thrombin, activated forms of factor X, factor IX, factor XI, factor XII, as well as kallikrein, plasmin and urokinase. Enzyme inhibition by antithrombin occurs through proteolytic cleavage at Arg385-Ser386 and subsequent rapid formation of a stable, inactive 1:1 enzyme-antithrombin complex. Heparin has a profound accelerating effect on the inhibitory activity of antithrombin towards some enzymes. For example, the rate of inhibition of thrombin and activated factor X is increased 1000-fold in the presence of optimal concentrations of heparin, whereas heparin has relatively little effect on the inhibition rate of activated factor XI, activated factor XII and kallikrein. Antithrombin is a single chain molecule with a molecular weight of 59 kDa. Interaction with thrombin results in an SDS-stable thrombin-antithrombin complex of 96 kDa1-3.

Uniprot Description
Function: Most important serine protease inhibitor in plasma that regulates the blood coagulation cascade. AT-III inhibits thrombin as well as factors IXa, Xa and XIa. Its inhibitory activity is greatly enhanced in the presence of heparin.
Subcellular location: Secreted › extracellular space.
Tissue specificity: Plasma.
Post-translational modification: Phosphorylation sites are present in the extracelllular medium
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the serpin family.
Product Notes
The Serpinc1 serpinc1 (Catalog #
AAA512015) is an Antibody produced from Sheep and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Suitable as a source of antibodies to human antithrombin. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Serpinc1 serpinc1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of
"ATIII - Antithrombin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of
the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always
suggest centrifuging these vials
to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to
opening. Please be advised that
certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an
additional dry ice fee may also be
required.
