Immunogen
A synthesized peptide derived from human ATF6B.
Conjugation
Unconjugated
Similarity
The basic domain functions as a nuclear localization signal. The basic leucine-zipper domain is sufficient for association with the NF-Y trimer and binding to ERSE. Belongs to the bZIP family. ATF subfamily.
Post Translational Modifications
N-glycosylated.During unfolded protein response, a fragment of approximately 60 kDa containing the cytoplasmic transcription factor domain is released by proteolysis. The cleavage is probably performed sequentially by site-1 and site-2 proteases.
Subunit Structure
Homodimer and heterodimer with ATF6-alpha. The dimer interacts with the nuclear transcription factor Y (NF-Y) trimer through direct binding to NF-Y subunit C (NF-YC).
Tissue Specificity
Ubiquitous.
Function
Transcriptional factor that acts in the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway by activating UPR target genes induced during ER stress. Binds DNA on the 5'-CCAC[GA]-3' half of the ER stress response element (ERSE) (5'-CCAATN(9)CCAC[GA]-3') when NF-Y is bound to ERSE.
Note
Under ER stress the cleaved N-terminal cytoplasmic domain translocates into the nucleus.
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a transcription factor in the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway during ER stress. Either as a homodimer or as a heterodimer with ATF6-alpha, the encoded protein binds to the ER stress response element, interacting with nuclear transcription factor Y to activate UPR target genes. The protein is normally found in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum; however, under ER stress, the N-terminal cytoplasmic domain is cleaved from the rest of the protein and translocates to the nucleus. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]

Uniprot Description

Binds DNA on the 5'-CCAC[GA]-3' half of the ER stress response element (ERSE) (5'-CCAATN(9)CCAC[GA]-3') when NF-Y is bound to ERSE. Belongs to the bZIP family. ATF subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ATF6B atf6b (Catalog #AAA9630860) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ATF6B Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ATF6B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA)(peptide). ELISA(peptide): 1:20000-1:40000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ATF6B atf6b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ATF6B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
